The Victorian Government has announced on Thursday a snap state-wide lockdown effective from Thursday, 5 August at 8:00pm. ProRec Plumbing
This means that we will return to the same restrictions as per lockdown five.
There are only five reasons to leave home:
- getting the food and the supplies you need,
- exercising for up to two hours,
- care or caregiving,
- authorised work or education if you can’t do it from home,
- or to get vaccinated at the nearest possible location
The restrictions on the building and construction industry are the same as the first week of the recent Lockdown 5. Building and construction may proceed, however work on occupied premises (both indoors and outdoors) may not proceed unless it is an emergency.

Victorian Business Support Package
Trades working mainly in occupied premises (esp. renovations) continue to be impacted by lockdowns. But strong advocacy by MasterPlumbers and our industry partners directly to State and Federal Government Ministers has resulted in a new business grants program which will go at least part way to helping those affected. We are working with government on the details to ensure as many impacted members as possible qualify for this program.
The Commonwealth and Victorian governments recently announced support for small and medium businesses. Plumbing businesses may qualify under the Small Business COVID Hardship Fund to support businesses who have not been eligible under existing business support funds. Small businesses with a payroll of up to $10 million who have experienced a 70 per cent or greater reduction in revenue will be eligible for grants of up to $5,000.
Maintenance work in homes or apartments where residents are staying can only continue where it is essential for the continued operation of:
- essential infrastructure and essential services that are required to maintain or protect human health, safety, and wellbeing (whether provided by a public or private undertaking), and including construction, maintenance, and repair of such infrastructure
- critical repairs to any premises where required for emergency or safety
- services to support ongoing provision and regulation of electricity, gas, water, sewage and waste and recycling services and their maintenance.
Workers must always wear a face mask and have no contact with residents.
